Gothenburg's Natural History Museum was founded in 1833 and the museum collections include around 10 million animals and the permanent exhibition presents a wide selection of the world's fauna - from single-celled amoebas to the proud African elephant that sits in the middle of the mammal hall. The whale hall contains the world's only mounted blue whale and in the section on human development we can meet a scale copy of Lucy.
